Introduction to Immigration
Immigration is the influx of people from other countries into a certain country. The definition of "Immigrant", according to dictionary.com, is "a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence." America has been known as the melting pot, letting anyone immigrate and contribute to it's culture. The view of immigration was, and is, not very popular with the citizens of America. This website will look at some of the aspects of immigration in the turn of the twentieth century, including the transportation of immigrants to the US, the laws against and for the immigrants, the public opinion of immigration, the social issues, and the important events, and compare them to the same aspects at the turn of the twenty-first century.
