19th-20th Century Transportation
In the 19th and 20th Centuries, Immigrants coming from Europe Traveled on steam boats across the Atlantic Ocean. Depending on your wealth and status, the journey could range from luxurious and relaxing, to dirty and horrible. First Class passengers were treated well enough, but second and third class passengers traveled in filthy conditions in cramped, rat infested cabins. Disease and seasickness were rampant. However, the new immigrants thought it was a price worth paying to get to America.
