Barack Obama
Barack Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961. He attended Columbia University and Harvard University, and graduated with a degree in law. He served on the Illinois State Senate and as an Illinois Senator and is the 44th President of the United States of America. On August 1st, 2001, the DREAM (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors) act was introduced to the senate. It would allow children of illegal immigrants that are under 16 years of age to obtain a temporary 6- year citizen status, and are granted permanent citizenship if they attend a bachelors program in school for at least two years, graduate college with a degree, or serve time in the armed forces. President Obama supported the law, and recently set forth his immigration reform that stopped deporting illegal immigrants that fell under the requirements of the DREAM act.
"A good compromise, a good piece of legislation, is like a good sentence; or a good piece of music. Everybody can recognize it. They say, 'Huh. It works. It makes sense.'" -Barack Obama "Today we are engaged in a deadly global struggle for those who would intimidate, torture, and murder people for exercising the most basic freedoms. If we are to win this struggle and spread those freedoms, we must keep our own moral compass pointed in a true direction." -Barack Obama |
